The story itself was entertaining with them trying to build a new tribe and several new secondary characters and plot twists with existing characters all of which kept the pacing upbeat. Cordell's third book in the lives of Mortymer family switches its focus to the canals and waterways of South Wales, especially the Neath Valley. It takes nothing about itself too seriously, but at the same time, it's very earnest.
